3.  While most people don’t understand this, but there is a very important word in business called PROFIT.  As demands go up, so do prices.  When demands go up, the company distributing the goods has to produce more and spend more money.  If they spend more money, they will make more money.  In this situation, 3D movies are the demand.  Movie theaters can see that more and more people are watching 3D movies so they take advantatge of it.  It is not a crime.  It is just simple business.  Movie theaters are ignoring the weak economy and trying to make a living of their own.  They are not at fault for 3D movie prices going up, the consumers are.  If they want something, they will pay for it.  There is no complaint about it!

6.  This situation will never happen.  The only reason that prices went up is because the demand went up.  There is a similiar trend happening here. When the demand goes up, the prices go up.  Consumers are asking for it and there are no complaints, or it would be hipocracy.  The business knows what the customer wants and meets that need and makes a profit out of it.

The main problem with what this article is saying is that the price increase for 3D movies is entirely the movie theater’s fault.  They don’t consider the rise of demand for the movies.  The critics just wnat the price to say the same or lower, no matter the situation, more or less demand.  They obviously don’t know anything about business.  The main word that they need to learn in business is PROFIT.  If the prices stay the same while the demand is going up, there is going to be little or no profit made.  It takes alot of money to produce a movie, especially a 3D.  While many people pay money for a 3D movie, the cost of running the movie increases because it is played more often.  This would cost more money.  If they don’t charge more, the movie theaters cannot make the money they need to becuase demand is going up, but price isn’t.

3.  Excoriate means to verbally whip or be abusive.  Most people would think that since ex means out, cor which means skin, and ate, which is to do.  This is very different than what most people think.

4.  The United States should have a multilateral military system.  I don’t like the idea of being isolated from the world in military terms.  Alliances would help us be stronger.  Although we would have to give, we would also receive as well.

5.  The saying ,”What goes around, comes around”  is widely and commonly accepted in our community today.  But it is only accepted by those who are living in their own perfect little utopia with adults watching everything and nothing bad every happening to them.  If you are nice to a person, they will be nice to you.  That philosophy is false.  Sometimes, you are nice to a person and they just ignore that fact and keep treating you the same.

6.  If I came home and was greeted with interrogative questions, my first thought would be that I would be surprised, although this emotion is quickly degrading.  Family is supposed to trust each other.  Now, as I grow and begin to develop an idealist mind, my family begins to distrust me.  They’ve noticed that I think and act differently from the others and have taken advantatge of this.

7.  Personally, I don’t like a sculpture that is vaguely anthropomorphic because it is to shallow and vague.  I personally like detail and precision.

Apple has unveiled a new product-the Apple iPhone OS 4.0.  It is a newly upgraded iPhone and has most of the features the previous iPhone lacked.  It is known for its mulit-tasking abilities which enable a user to play a game and listen to music at the same time, or use Safari and listen to a podcast.  Any combination would work.  The way they make it work without being extremely slow and a battery eater, is that Apple made it so that music could be running in the background, not as a smaller version of a window shown while you’re doing something else.

Another useful feature is the Game Center.  While the Xbox 360 has Xbox Live and the Playstation 3 has Playstation Network,  the iPhone has the Game Center.  This lets a user compare scores with other OS 4.0 users around the world.  It also allows a user to invite friends to their games and play with other users.  Although other smaller companies made apps like this,  it was to be bought seperately with money.  The Game Center comes bone-stock with the OS 4.0.

Thridly, another extremely helpful feature is the universal e-mail.  Most iPhone users in the past complained about having only one email setup.  Now Apple improved the “Mail” system by gathering multiple e-mail accounts unified in one box.  This lets a user check all their accounts more conveniently and faster.  Users don’t have to switch back and forth.

Lastly, there is one huge problem with the iPhone Os 4.0.  It has so many features and new upgrades, it will cost so much to manufacture.  Apple will spend so much money in just manufacturing this product,  the retail prices will soar.  I expect for the price to jump a few hundred dollars.  This will make the iPhone OS 4.0 a lot less popular for Apple fans.  Apple will need to fix the problem of expensive products.  They need an efficient, cheap to manufacture product that is widely popular like the iPhone.

Idealism vs Realism

Idealism is a an abstract way of thinking and when presented, it seems very impressive.  It will however, not get you very far in accomplishments.  It is just a form of thinking.  Although imaginative, that is all it is, imagination.

Realism is a much more concrete style of thinking.  It bases itself off of facts and solid statistics rather than idealism, which bases itself off of opionated statements and ideas.  Realism is acting and not staying stationary and writting about things you’re going to do like idealism.  Realism is more of a matured type of thinking.  It realizes the outside factors of life and accepts them unlike idealism, which who idealists heads are in the cloud, not in the real world.

Duty to family is more important than duty to state to me.  Duty to family is a more idealism kind of duty.  It is less strict, realistic, and organized than the state or an army.  You think imaginatively about your family members and do not have a strict structure that happens a on a frequent basis.

Duty to state is more of a realistic idea.  It is so organized and strict, there is hardly any room for idealism, creative,or imaginative thinking.  You have to focus on the situation at hand and not think about anything else.

The Hutaree are a Christian milita that “fight for the Lord”.  This includes plotting to kill many police officers, actually killing one, waging war with the government and killing anyone in their way.  Christians are thought of by the outside community as caring, loving followers of Christ, not mad,weapon-wielding,killer,anarchists.

Hutaree means “warriors of Christ” and it would fit their image perfectly other than the fact that Christ is not a name to be smeared with killing and anarchy.  Their website attempts to portray a sense of innocense in them.  David Brian Stone, their leader, also wrecked his family by luring his son into the militia and divorcing his wife.

The Hutaree were planning on bombing a funeral with a lot of officials so they could start a disturbance within the government.  Their plan only reached step one, fortuneately.  After they killed the police officer with a fake 911 call, they planned to bomb his funeral, than retreat to their “rally point” which was set up with tripwires and various other sort of defensive explosives do defend themselves from any government attack.  Their main goal was to kill as many law-enforcement possible for them, because they hated the government.     Luckily, government officials caught 9 suspects in the Hutaree and was able to stop their plan.

Article of the Week #20

4.  What is the stated purpose of the licensing requirements?  Is this a valid justification?
According to the government, the purpose of a license for “floating” is to ensure safety for the animals.  This is not a valid justification.  I can’t even be justified!  If a horse-teeth floater does his job well, there is no need for a license.  The floaters have proper training and equipment.  They don’t just grab a  file one day,go up to someone’s horse, and start filing at any random place in the mouth!  They have proper equipment, and know what they are doing.  According to the article, there have been no reports of a injured horse from floating.  There should be no need for a license, until a real threat to the horses appears.

5. Should there be any licensing requirements, or should people be able to pay each other whatever they want for whatever service they want?

There should not be a licensing requirement for small things such as horse-teeth floating.  That is a small, personal matter between two people doing private business.  So according to this licensing requirement, soon there is going to be a requirement to have a license for mowing a neighbor’s grass, or fixing someone’s property.  Having a license for those small things is just preposterous.  The government is being too secure to private businesses.  One day, there will be so much restrictions, all the tense, and strict restrictions will just rebound and go out of control, wrecking the license requirements

Reflection

Horse -teeth floating  is an interesting job in which a person files down a horse’s teeth to make sure when the horse is chewing, it doesn’t hurt there tongue or the insides of their mouth.  This is actually very helpful and some people are only charging $50 for a file-down, which to me, is pretty cheap.  It is a good investment so instead of paying to fix your horse’s teeth, you can just pay $50 which is most likely alot more cheaper than going through all the dental bills to fix your horse’s teeth.

Now the government is demanding that floaters have to have a license in order to carry out their jobs.  They think that it will hurt the horse and wreck the economy or something dumb like that.  This is just absurd, preposterous, and just plain dumb.  The government is being too secure about it.  It’s just filing down a horse’s teeth!  It is not something that actually needs a license like driving, teaching, or owning a business!  People should be able to pay for what they want and not worry about it.  It is there personal business.  If I want someone to come to my house and give my dogs a bath and pay them, I should have the right to do so without having to check if they have a license for cleaning dogs.   I am paying the person at my own risk that he will not accidently drown them or give them hypothermia.  I am willing to take the low-probablity chance.  People should also be willing to pay another private entrepraneur to file down their horse’s files.  Soon there will be a requirement to have a license to sit in a passenger’s side of a car, or take pictures, or something dumb like that.  The way our government is rolling downhill in economically, politically, and in issues like this will go on for a very long time.

Little Rock Nine reflectoin

Little Rock Nine Reflection

  1. We know that today, Little Rock Nine’s case was very unfair and should be severely punished today.  Proper education should not just be offered to whites, it should be offered to all races.  We also know that if racial segregation did not exist back then, our country would have been much more successful.  We would have more workers in the economy and more nationalism coming from all races would exist.

2.                    This would probably never happen again in America.  We know now that education is spread equally throughout all that need it.  Racism is no longer tolerated in this country.  However, Hispanics illegally crossing the border are discriminated, not for their race, but for what they did.  Their life is not too good here in America, and a revolution would most likely begin soon, for there equal rights.  However, our country today judges people by what they do, not what they are.  A revolution for the rights of the illegal immigrants would not be a very good case in court, like Brown vs. Board of Education.

3.                      We know today that courage and bravery are highly prized values and can overcome obstacles that seem impossible at first.  The Little Rock Nine had a huge amount of courage and that got them far in life.  They did not give up and persevered although the entire government was against them.  They fought for their unalienable rights and got what they deserved.  If all the colored people back then had this kind of determination and courage, the civil rights movement would have been successful much sooner.

4                       All the members of Little Rock Nine were courageous and brave.  That doesn’t mean that they weren’t afraid.  They just had the courage to overcome what they were afraid of.  They were determined to clear the path for the education of the future colored children of America.  They were selfish, brave, and determined.  Their early life as students was difficult and they knew this, but they overcame it and succeeded in life.

France is still living in the past with “wolf hunters” which is an elite group of sharpshooters that take care of local incidents of WILD animals destroying crops, property, and injuring people.  Some people believe that the wolf hunters should only kill wild animals, so today, some of the wolf hunters refuse to kill such “domestic animals” because they have owners.

Their proper names are the “lieutenants de louveterie” which means lieutenants of the wolf hunt.  They were formed in 812 A.D. by King of the Franks and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Charlemagne and were made official by the famous Napoleon Bonaparte.  The system most likely worked well back then, but now, they are not doing too well.  The mayers of the city of Corisca, which is a French island roughly three times the size of Long Island, gave the hunters to “go” to kill wild animals roaming the island.  The problem is that there are rarely any wild animals.  In fact, most of the animals are owned by farmers and sellers.  This is bad because the farmesrs care about their animals because it is their profit.  France will probably not try to fix this problem because they havent for the past millenium.

Aow #18 questions

1.  France’s political status must’ve stayed the same or very similar since the lietenants de louveterie were still in existence.  The lietenants de louveterie are still needed in France’s lands.  However, this program is not working as well, because some of them refuse to shoot “domestic animals” .  Also, citizens are getting fined because they do a favor towards the community.  They might as well just do away with the lietenants de louveterie since it is obviously not working.

4. This incidence in France would never happen to the American society.  It is so modern and most farm animals live in the country, far away from business, streets, etc.  If however this did happen, the police department in the area would quickly take care of it.  The local zoo would probably take care of the animals, or if they are too dangerous, the police would probably just put them to sleep and put them into a zoo, or back to their owners.

This is a very interesting article.  It talks about how taxpayers should not be hard on inmates and hold a grdge.  Because of criminals and inmates, the state penitentaries are having to pay high prices for each inmate.  Rhode Island being the most, pays an average of $44,860 PER inmate a year.  This deducts an  avearge of 6.8% of the state’s yearly income.  In fact, states spend more money on correction than an upgraded educational system.  This article is saying, that we can give less dangerous law-breakers a chance of being a better, contributing to society person.  This is a step towards a more brighter future of America.  Instead of jailing people for having orchids in their houses, the American government is taking a step towards a more compassionate way of a judicial system.
